How long will the drainage assessment take?

It depends on the property size and accessablity, but generally half a day to complete a drainage assesment.

We may need to dig holes around your property to gain access to some pipes, we will always reinstate these when we have completed the drainage CCTV.

Do I need to be home during the drainage assessment?

No, you do not need to be home as long as we can access all the downpipes and gully traps around the outside of the property. Please advise us if you have any dogs or locked gates.

Do I need to do anything before the assessment?
  1. It is recommended that you close your toilet lid/s and place something heavy on top incase of any blow-backs, although this is very rear it can happen if there is a blockage in the pipe.
  2. We need to be able to access all the laterals and down pipes at your property, please remove any obstructions around these areas.
  3. Please advise us if you have any insurance cliams on any paths or driveways on your property and if these have been repaired/replaced already.
We have already had our drains assessed, why do we need them assessed again?

We have received your drainage refferal from the EQC. The EQC have many reasons why they have requested your drains to be assessed again, you can phone them on 0800 Damage if you have any concerns.

How do you determine if there is drainage Earthquake damage?

As qualified drainlayers, we take a video recording from inside the lateral to identify any earthquake damage.

Do I need to pay for the drainage assessment?

If we receive your referral from the EQC (ie. you have put in a claim before 1st January 2017) then the EQC will pay for the assessment.

If you are lodging a new claim (from 1st January 2017) the EQC require you to pay for the assessment and if earthquake damage is confirmed, EQC will be reimburse you. We can assist with different payment options to make this easier for you.

What happens after the drainage assessment?

We submit a full report to EQC using the template provided from the EQC. EQC will then processes and advise you of any settlement. Once you have received your settlement, please contact us to come back and repair the damage for you.

Can you repair/replace our drains?

Yes! The settlement you receive from the EQC directly reflects our findings and costings to repair. As we have completed the assessment we are familiar with your property, and as an EQC drainage panel member you can have confidence that if further damage is discovered during the repair process that we can go back directly to the EQC to make any extra claims necessary.
